A short drive from the North Cornish Coast, The Linhay Cottage is ideally placed as a base for sightseeing and exploration. This is one of the sunniest, driest areas of the United Kingdom with some of the sandiest beaches in the land. Many are ideal for surfing.
Linhay Cottage belonged to Trevisquite Manor farm, Trevisquite means ‘place in the wood’ and the manor house is recorded in the Doomsday book. It is set in the beautiful Allen Valley and the famous Camel Trail is closeby at Hellandbridge.
There is plenty of variety for even the most demanding visitor with award winning beaches, bathing, water sports, lively resorts, historical sites, nature reserves, and shopping centres. Within easy reach there are many museums, galleries and craft shops, and a variety of specialist restaurants using excellent local produce.
The nearby village of St Mabyn is within walking distance along a quiet lane (about a mile) with a Post Office and a 17th Century inn. St Mabyn Inn is a friendly local serving real ales and with a fine reputation for home cooked food. For fans of the 'Doc Martin' series on TV, the St Mabyn Inn is where some of the filming takes place.
